Nicolas BOUGUENNEC is an orthopedic surgeon specialized in knee surgery at the Clinique du Sport in Bordeaux-Mérignac, FRANCE.
After completing hospital-university training in Nantes and several international fellowships (United States, New Zealand, Japan, Australia), he specialized in the management of ligament and meniscal injuries of the knee, particularly in athletes, performing over 500 ACL surgeries per year.
Highly involved in clinical research, he coordinates several large-scale studies within the Meriscience group, with a strong focus on ACL surgery, return-to-sport criteria, personalized rehabilitation strategies, and the evaluation of surgical techniques. Together with the knee surgery team, he regularly publishes on postoperative functional outcomes. In parallel, he participates in collaborative projects on post-surgical biomechanical assessment, integrating new 3D motion analysis technologies.
Committed to clinical research, he is the author of more than 40 scientific publications, has presented numerous works at national and international conferences (SOFCOT, SFA, ESSKA, ISAKOS, ACL Study Group), and regularly speaks at symposiums and specialized meetings. He is also an active member of several professional societies and contributes to educational projects related to sports and knee surgery.
His current work focuses in particular on combined ACL/MCL injuries, return to sport, postoperative satisfaction criteria (PASS), and the optimization of secondary prevention strategies following ligament surgery.
